What You’ll Do

  • Participate in the teaching and training of medical students and interns.
  • Provide clinical services in the Acute Surgical Care Initiative (ASCI) unit.
  • Supervise and mentor interns and junior medical staff.
  • Manage after-hours calls and participate in the commuted overtime system.
  • Engage with referrals from various departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Optimize peri-operative patient care and manage complex medical cases.
  • Collect and analyze data for service improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Grade 1: No experience required post-registration for South African qualified employees; 1 year post-registration for foreign qualified employees.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner post-registration for South African qualified employees; 6 years for foreign qualified employees.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner post-registration for South African qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
  • Clinical competency in managing unstable patients and peri-operative care.
  • Resilience and capability to work in challenging environments.
  • Computer literacy and interest in data-driven service improvements.
