What You’ll Do
- Resolve disputes regarding medical unfitness findings for mine employees through the appeals process.
- Collect and analyze data from medical reports related to occupational health.
- Coordinate the quality assurance process for receiving and archiving medical records of mine closure employees.
- Participate in investigations of mine health and safety accidents, providing input in occupational medicine.
- Collaborate with compensation houses on matters related to employee compensation.
- Offer specialist advice on HIV/AIDS and TB issues relevant to the mining industry.
- Manage the Directorate, overseeing its operations and strategic direction.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate MBCHB degree and a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Medicine (NQF 08).
- Registration with the HPCSA and a valid driver’s license.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in senior or middle management within Occupational Health/Medicine.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and related occupational health regulations.
- Familiarity with both local and international legislation concerning the mining sector.
- Skills in management, strategic development, policy creation, networking, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong communication, project management, and general management abilities.
