What You’ll Do
- Interpret, draft, and edit a diverse range of legal documents, including contracts and guarantees, to safeguard the department’s interests.
- Provide litigation advisory services and legal opinions based on thorough research and legal knowledge.
- Advise on public service and policy issues while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
- Stay informed about legal developments and conduct relevant research to support the department’s objectives.
- Assist in the development and drafting of provincial legislation as required by the department.
- Contribute to the formulation of departmental policies to enhance operational effectiveness.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate and an appropriate Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent qualification.
- For MR3: At least 2 years of appropriate post-qualification legal experience; for MR4: At least 5 years; and for MR5: At least 8 years.
- Experience in commercial litigation, property law/conveyancing, and contract drafting is preferred.
- Admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email software.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
