What You’ll Do

  • Provide language and translation services for departmental documents.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing language policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external service providers for outsourced translation services.
  • Conduct quality checks on all documents and products managed by the unit.
  • Assist in the development of standard terminology for the department.
  • Offer language advisory services to enhance communication effectiveness.
  • Compile and maintain databases related to language matters.
  • Participate in the Terminology Forum to propose standardized terms.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • A 3-year post-school qualification (NQF 6) in communication, translation studies, linguistics, or related fields.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in language services.
  • Proficient understanding of communication policies and strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of at least two official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Skills in editing and translating documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organisational and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Project management and research skills.
  • Proficient in computer literacy, especially MS Office.
