About the Role
The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Supervisor to join its committed team in Rondebosch, Cape Town. What You’ll Do
- Supervise the daily operations of waste management, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Lead and support waste management staff, fostering adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe working practices.
- Manage the administration of service providers, including contracts and performance records.
- Conduct routine inspections of waste management areas and equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of waste volumes and incidents, contributing to the hospital’s operational reports.
- Provide operational and administrative support to enhance service delivery within the waste management unit.
What You’ll Need
- A General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Std 7) as a minimum educational qualification.
- Relevant experience in waste management within a hospital environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by shift work.
- Competence in healthcare waste regulations and occupational health and safety (OHS) standards.
- Strong supervisory and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with staff and the public.
- Physical, mental, and emotional fitness to provide an essential service in a dynamic healthcare environment.
