What You’ll Do

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all learners in the hostel
  • Support and mentor learners in their daily activities
  • Implement hostel rules and promote positive behaviour
  • Accompany learners for medical attention when necessary
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining the hostel environment
  • Prepare learners for school each day and help them with schoolwork
  • Serve food in the dining hall and assist learners needing help during meals
  • Administer medication as prescribed by medical practitioners
  • Provide personal care, including bathing and changing for younger learners
  • Act in loco parentis and work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 10 or equivalent, or relevant qualifications in Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (DCAPS) Grade 5
  • A valid driver’s license is an added advantage (not required for those with disabilities)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with learners of varying needs
  • Patience, compassion, and a collaborative mindset for teamwork
