What You’ll Do

  • Manage and train a team of prosecutors, providing guidance and oversight.
  • Study case dockets and determine the appropriate course of action for criminal proceedings.
  • Conduct and manage maintenance matters and inquests in both the Regional and District Courts.
  • Prepare cases for court, including drafting charge sheets and other legal documents.
  • Present and assist in prosecuting cases, leading witnesses and addressing the court on various matters.
  • Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct and policies set by the National Prosecuting Authority.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Public Prosecutor on staff performance assessments and management.
  • Oversee the administration of the District and Regional Courts, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Promote community involvement and customer satisfaction within the criminal justice framework.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB or equivalent legal qualification, especially for serving prosecutors seeking advancement.
  • A minimum of six years’ post-qualification legal experience.
  • Proven competency in independent and professional legal practice.
  • Strong skills in prosecuting complex common law and statutory offences.
  • Experience in drafting intricate charge sheets and court documents.
  • Excellent management and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the ECMS system.
  • High reliability, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures in the public sector.
  • A valid driver’s license.
