About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Head: Clinical Unit (Medical) Grade 1 to join its team in the Ehlanzeni District, a vibrant area within the Gert Sibande District of Mpumalanga, South Africa. What You’ll Do
- Represent the anaesthesiology discipline within the District Clinical Specialist Team.
- Supervise and manage anaesthesiology services to ensure quality patient care.
- Execute clinical duties efficiently, adhering to established standards of patient care.
- Accept responsibility for managing patients admitted to level 2/3 facilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Participate in academic training programs and assist with clinical audits.
- Engage in continuous professional development and support hospital management in achieving service excellence.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology.
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration with HPCSA.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong skills in multidisciplinary management and teamwork.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current health and public service regulations and policies.
- Excellent clinical assessment and management skills.
- Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Capacity to teach and guide junior staff within the department.
