What You’ll Do
- Collect and capture data from various formats and sources.
- Design and implement spatial databases to store key datasets.
- Conduct data manipulation and analysis, ensuring quality assurance throughout.
- Create and maintain spatial data topology and attributes.
- Provide technical support to GISc users regarding software and data usage.
- Verify spatial data and compile reports as needed.
- Design, develop, and create geodatabases, maps, and related projects.
- Supervise the capture and publication of metadata records.
- Promote stakeholder relations and participate in collaborative projects.
- Develop GISc spatial information tools to improve accessibility for clients.
- Train end-users in GISc skills and ensure interoperability between systems.
- Document GISc processes and undertake system audits.
- Research and advise on new GIS technologies and standards.
What You’ll Need
- A 3–4 year GIS degree or a related bachelor’s degree.
- Compulsory registration with the South African Geomatics Council as a GISc Technologist.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience as a GISc Technologist.
- A valid code B driver’s license.
- Proficiency in GIS software, especially ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
- Strong analytical, statistical, and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skills in project management and technical report writing.
- Knowledge of legal compliance for spatial data.
