What You’ll Do
- Render efficient catering services by following prescribed menus and dietary requirements.
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Process and cook prepared ingredients to create nutritious meals for patients.
- Serve food in appropriate crockery, ensuring portion sizes align with dietary allowances.
- Pack and deliver food trolleys to designated areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a hygienic work environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery and ensuring proper cleaning protocols are followed.
- Perform regular checks to uphold safety and sanitation standards and report any issues to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (or equivalent ABET level 2 certificate).
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation practices.
- Familiarity with operating food processing equipment and basic health and safety measures.
- Basic literacy and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
- A strong commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety standards in a healthcare setting.
