What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing various proteins.
  • Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption.
  • Serve prepared food in appropriate crockery while ensuring portion sizes meet dietary allowances.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to specified areas within the health institution.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
  • Clean and store food processing equipment and the food preparation area regularly.
  • Report any unsafe or unhygienic conditions to your supervisor.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
  • Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation methods.
  • Understanding of health and safety measures related to food processing.
  • Ability to operate food processing equipment effectively.
  • Basic literacy and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
