About the Role

What You’ll Do
- Follow menus and special diet plans to prepare meals for patients.
- Clean and cut vegetables, as well as prepare meat, poultry, and fish.
- Process and cook prepared ingredients to ensure they are ready for consumption.
- Serve meals in the appropriate crockery, ensuring correct portion sizes.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to designated areas within the health institution.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery.
- Check and ensure that the correct number of utensils are returned to the kitchen.
- Wash and dry used kitchen equipment, cutlery, and crockery.
- Perform regular quality checks to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
- Clean the food processing area at regular intervals throughout the day.
- Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of food services and food preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of operating food processing equipment and basic health & safety measures.
- Familiarity with hygiene and bacterial contamination control measures.
- Basic literacy and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
