What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Cook and process prepared ingredients to create meals for consumption.
  • Serve prepared meals in appropriate crockery, ensuring portion sizes meet dietary allowances.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver to designated areas within the health institution.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used crockery and cutlery.
  • Ensure the correct number of cutlery and crockery are returned to the kitchen.
  • Wash and dry used equipment, cutlery, and crockery while performing quality checks.
  • Clean the food processing area regularly and maintain safety and sanitation standards.
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

What You’ll Need

  • At least NQF level 1 or 2 (equivalent to an ABET level 2 certificate).
  • Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of food processing equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with basic health and safety measures in food environments.
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • A commitment to maintaining hygiene and bacterial contamination control measures.
