What You’ll Do

  • Follow designated menus and special dietary plans to prepare meals.
  • Clean, cut, and prepare vegetables, meat, poultry, and fish for cooking.
  • Cook prepared ingredients and serve meals using appropriate crockery.
  • Ensure that portion sizes comply with dietary allowances.
  • Pack and deliver food trolleys to various areas within the hospital.
  • Collect used cutlery and crockery from wards, ensuring safe and hygienic handling.
  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of food processing equipment and areas.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to supervisors.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF Level 1 or 2 (equivalent to ABET Level 2 certification) with no prior experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with operating food processing equipment.
  • Understanding of health and safety measures in food service environments.
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining hygiene standards.
