What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following prescribed menus and special diet plans
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish
  • Cook and process prepared ingredients for consumption
  • Serve food in appropriate crockery while ensuring correct portion sizes
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to designated areas within the health institution
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting and washing used cutlery and crockery
  • Perform quality checks to ensure that cleaning standards are met
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe situations to your supervisor

What You’ll Need

  • NQF Level 1 or 2 (ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with food processing equipment and basic health and safety measures
  • Understanding of hygiene and bacterial contamination control measures
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately
