What You’ll Do
- Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans.
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption.
- Serve prepared food in appropriate crockery while ensuring portions meet dietary standards.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to designated areas in the hospital.
- Collect used cutlery and crockery from wards and service areas to maintain cleanliness.
- Perform quality checks to ensure that hygiene and safety standards are upheld.
- Regularly clean the food processing area and equipment, adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
- Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 1 or 2 (ABET Level 2 Certificate or equivalent).
- Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation.
- Familiarity with the operation of food processing equipment.
- Understanding of basic health and safety measures.
- Ability to measure ingredients accurately and follow guidelines.
- Basic literacy skills.
