What You’ll Do
- Follow menus and special diet plans to prepare meals for patients.
- Clean and cut vegetables, and prepare meat, poultry, and fish for cooking.
- Process and cook ingredients to create nutritious meals for consumption.
- Serve prepared food in the appropriate crockery to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to various areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery.
- Check the return of cutlery and crockery to ensure accurate inventory.
- Wash and dry used kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
- Perform regular sanitation checks and report any hygiene or safety concerns to supervisors.
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation processes.
- Understanding of health and safety measures relevant to food handling.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to accurately measure ingredients.
- Capability to operate kitchen food processing equipment efficiently.
