What You’ll Do
- Follow specific menus and special diet plans to provide catering services.
- Prepare ingredients for meals by cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Cook prepared ingredients to create nutritious meals for patients.
- Serve meals in the appropriate crockery while ensuring portion sizes meet dietary allowances.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and ensure meals are delivered to the correct areas within the hospital.
- Maintain hygiene by collecting used cutlery and crockery, washing and drying them, and performing quality checks on cleaning processes.
- Clean the food processing area regularly to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.
- Report any unhygienic or unsafe situations to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation.
- Understanding of health and safety measures, hygiene, and bacterial contamination control.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to operate food processing equipment.
- Capability to measure ingredients accurately.
