What You’ll Do
- Follow menus and special diet plans to prepare meals for patients.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Cook and process prepared ingredients for consumption.
- Serve meals in appropriate crockery and ensure portion sizes comply with dietary allowances.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and ensure food is delivered accurately to designated areas.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment by cleaning used cutlery and crockery.
- Perform regular quality checks to uphold cleaning and hygiene standards.
- Report any unsafe or unhygienic conditions to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 1 or 2 (ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of health and safety measures related to food handling.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to operate food processing equipment.
- Capability to measure ingredients accurately.
