What You’ll Do

  • Follow menus and special diet plans to provide catering services.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Cook prepared ingredients to create nutritious meals for patients.
  • Serve food in appropriate crockery while ensuring dietary allowances are met.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and ensure timely delivery to designated areas within the hospital.
  • Maintain hygiene standards by collecting used cutlery and crockery and ensuring all items are cleaned and stored properly.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to the supervisor promptly.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with food processing equipment and basic health and safety measures.
  • Understanding of hygiene and bacterial contamination control measures.
  • Basic literacy skills and ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • Capability to operate food processing equipment effectively.
