What You’ll Do

  • Develop and manage demand and acquisition processes for the department.
  • Oversee and maintain logistical information and supply chain management (SCM) performance.
  • Coordinate the sourcing and purchasing decisions of all goods and services for the department.
  • Build and manage relationships between acquisition management and suppliers.
  • Ensure that procurement aligns with the Department’s Demand Management Plan.
  • Manage supplier scheduling, delivery times, and continuity of supply.
  • Create and maintain manuals on SCM policies and procedures.
  • Set performance standards for service delivery to departmental clients.
  • Manage resources within the Directorate, including human, asset, and financial resources.

What You’ll Need

  • A recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Public Management, or a related field (NQF 7).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience at a middle or senior managerial level.
  • At least 7 years of experience in various aspects of supply chain management, including procurement and logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of the PFMA, SCM Regulatory Framework, and procurement prescripts in the Public Service.
  • Excellent understanding of customer service principles, technical knowledge, and financial management.
  • Proficiency in SCM policies and procedures, along with computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential; a post-graduate qualification in SCM/Procurement or an MBA will be advantageous.
