What You’ll Do

  • Manage state-owned plantations and implement the annual operational plans.
  • Oversee State Forests, personnel, and associated assets effectively.
  • Develop and implement Fire Management Plans to protect natural resources.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Forest Act and National Veld and Forest Fire Act.
  • Mitigate audit risks and develop interventions for audit compliance.
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide post-settlement support and facilitate land administration.
  • Plan and initiate Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) initiatives to enhance commercial forestry operations.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification in Forestry or Natural Resource Management (NQF 7) or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Commercial Forestry or a related field at a middle/senior managerial level.
  • Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant forestry policies, legislation, and frameworks.
  • Excellent programme and project management skills, as well as financial management capabilities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
