What You’ll Do

  • Oversee all daily operations of the correctional centre, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Implement and manage security measures and case management practices.
  • Foster relationships with the Justice Cluster and the surrounding community to enhance collaboration.
  • Monitor and evaluate risk trends, taking appropriate action to address issues as they arise.
  • Manage human resources, finances, and assets effectively to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate social work services, health functions, and spiritual development programs for inmates.
  • Develop and maintain a structured system of activities and regular committee meetings within the centre.
  • Ensure that all operational support services are efficiently managed and executed.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Public Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a middle or senior managerial role.
  • A certificate for entry into the Senior Management Services (SMS) from the National School of Government.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the South African Correctional System and Criminal Justice System.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of public service policy, financial management, and legislative frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work long hours and travel as needed.
