What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic direction and coordination for crime prevention initiatives in the Ethekwini Region.
  • Manage partnerships with stakeholders to enhance community safety efforts.
  • Monitor and evaluate police performance to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Annual Police Service Delivery Plan tailored to regional needs.
  • Create and review community safety models and initiatives to adapt to evolving safety challenges.
  • Oversee resource management within the directorate to ensure efficient operations.

What You’ll Need

  • A Degree (NQF level 7 or higher) in Social Science, Police Science, Criminology, or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a middle or senior management role within the Criminal Justice environment.
  • A valid driver’s license (Code B) is mandatory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Constitution of South Africa and the South African Police Act.
  • Strong skills in project management, community development, report writing, and financial management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work extended hours when necessary.

Requirements

A Degree (NQF level 7 or higher) in Social Science / Police Science / Criminology or relevant equivalent qualification coupled with a minimum of 5 115 years’ middle / senior management experience in Criminal Justice environment.

A valid driver’s license Code B.

Nyukela SMS Pre-entry certificate submitted prior to appointment.

Applicants must be prepared to work extended hours.

Job Duties

To provide strategic direction and coordination in the Region.

Manage and promote crime prevention and partnerships.

Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of police performance in the region.

Ensure the development and implementation of integrated and costed Annual Police Service Delivery Plan for the Region and outreach areas.

Manage the development, evaluation and review of regional community safety models, initiatives and monitoring tools.

Ensure effective management of resources for the Directorate.

Salary

R1 317 384 per annum, (an all-inclusive remuneration package) is payable to the successful candidate. The package includes a basic salary (70 % of package) and a flexible portion (30% of package) that may be structured in terms of the applicable rules. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance and the signing of a performance agreement within three months of appointment.
