About the Role
The National Prosecuting Authority is seeking a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions based in Pretoria at its Head Office. What You’ll Do
- Manage the assigned portfolio and oversee a team of advocates and prosecutors.
- Guide legal staff in handling complex criminal cases and high-profile matters.
- Study and manage case dockets and make informed decisions regarding criminal proceedings.
- Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other necessary court documents.
- Present the state’s case in court, including the examination and cross-examination of witnesses.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate case management and prosecution.
- Ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards in all prosecutorial activities.
- Lead investigations in accordance with the NPA Act and participate in stakeholder forums.
- Provide legal oversight and guidance for investigation projects and legal casework.
- Draft and manage various strategic plans related to prosecution and case management.
What You’ll Need
- An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
- At least ten years of post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
- Admission as an Attorney/Advocate is an advantage.
- Demonstrated competency in managing complex legal matters independently.
- Strong advocacy and legal drafting skills, with knowledge of relevant laws and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
