What You’ll Do

  • Support municipalities with the development and implementation of local government legislation.
  • Review and provide feedback on national and provincial bills, policies, and draft regulations.
  • Coordinate procedural matters related to councils and ensure compliance with statutory mandates.
  • Provide training and capacitation to councilors and municipal officials.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of financial recovery plans for municipalities.
  • Plan, manage, and account for the performance of the sub-directorate.
  • Engage in people management and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Handle financial and strategic management activities relevant to the department.

What You’ll Need

  • A 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree in Public Administration or Law (or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of middle management experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of the Constitution and local government legislation, including key acts such as the Municipal Systems Act and Municipal Structures Act.
  • Proficiency in drafting legislation and understanding the political environment.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff and effectively manage resources.
  • Competence in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
