About the Role
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is currently seeking a Deputy Director-General: Financial Management Services based in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Ensure effective procurement of goods and services for the department.
- Develop frameworks for PFMA and Corporate Governance implementation, including reporting requirements.
- Mitigate risks through the development and implementation of approved policies and procedures.
- Manage the implementation of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Frameworks and Treasury Regulations.
- Oversee bookkeeping systems, financial planning, budgeting, and control services.
- Monitor departmental expenditure to ensure compliance with financial management requirements.
- Manage systems for salaries, revenue, and debtors effectively.
- Support logistics and assets management in accordance with PFMA requirements.
- Ensure efficient inventory and warehouse management.
- Coordinate internal control and compliance services, including audit coordination.
- Monitor compliance with Treasury Regulations and other financial prescripts.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification at NQF level 8 in Financial Management, Accounting Science, or a relevant equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience at a senior managerial level or in a related field.
- Successful completion of the Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme (Pre-entry Programme) endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG).
- Strong knowledge of financial management, cost accounting, and business practices.
- Ability to establish and manage financial systems and controls effectively.
- Skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and project management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve conflicts.
