About the Role

The Department of Social Development is looking for passionate individuals to fill the position of Community Development Supervisor: OSD Grade 1. This role is based in the Ehlanzeni region, specifically at the Bushbuckridge Sub-District Office, as well as in Gert Sibande at the Chief Albert Luthuli and Mkhondo Sub-District Offices. Community Development Supervisors play a vital role in shaping the future of communities by facilitating and implementing integrated development interventions in collaboration with community members and various stakeholders. Your leadership will ensure that these initiatives are sustainable and effectively address the needs of the community, making a significant difference in the lives of people.

In this position, you will supervise and support a team of community development practitioners, guiding them in their efforts to enhance community engagement and service delivery. Your expertise will help foster relationships with local NGOs, faith-based organizations, and other relevant bodies to create a unified approach to community development. What You’ll Do

  • Supervise the identification and implementation of community development initiatives.
  • Facilitate partnerships with community members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and guide community development practitioners to enhance their performance.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among all role players involved.
  • Stay updated on new developments in the community development field to improve service delivery.
  • Provide administrative support related to community development activities.
  • Advise on efficient and effective service delivery within the community.

What You’ll Need

  • A recognized three-year qualification in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Community Development post-qualification.
  • Strong understanding of human behavior and social systems to facilitate interventions.
  • Excellent management and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and financial management principles.
  • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage projects effectively.
