What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive clinical psychology services within the district.
  • Provide effective psycho-diagnostic and psycho-therapeutic services for both general and forensic mental health.
  • Compile court reports and attend to court inquiries as required.
  • Create and deliver psychotherapeutic programs for individuals with acute and sub-acute mental health conditions.
  • Engage in administrative tasks related to mental health services.
  • Mentor and train Junior Clinical Psychologists and other clinical staff.
  • Participate in outreach programs to promote mental health awareness and services.
  • Conduct mental health research as needed.
  • Manage state patients’ cases concerning leave of absence and conditional discharge.
  • Maintain accurate records and statistical data.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Current registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • At least one year of relevant experience after registration for foreign qualified candidates.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of diagnostic assessment and treatment procedures in Clinical Psychology.
  • Ability to administer and interpret psychological tests effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and patient interaction.
  • Competency in psychological assessment and report writing within forensic mental health contexts.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
