About the Role
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking a dynamic Chief Director of Cultural Affairs, based in Qonce. What You’ll Do
- Ensure the provision of arts and culture services throughout the province.
- Create and monitor environments for the development of performing and visual arts.
- Manage and promote the preservation of cultural heritage and moral regeneration.
- Oversee art centres, campsites, and funding allocations for cultural projects.
- Ensure the delivery of efficient library and information services to the community.
- Facilitate language development and literature services, including translation and interpretation.
- Promote good corporate governance and intergovernmental relations.
- Monitor financial compliance and deliver on departmental strategic imperatives.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and an NQF level 7 qualification in a related field (Cultural Studies, Arts Management, etc.).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at a senior managerial level.
- Completed SMS pre-entry programme (Nyukela Certificate).
- Extensive knowledge of arts and culture, libraries, archives, and heritage management.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- A valid code 08 driving licence.
