About the Role
The Department of Defence is seeking a talented individual for the position of Chief Director: Budget Management at the Armscor Building in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic direction for the Chief Directorate Budget Management.
- Manage and administer comprehensive budget management processes.
- Advise the CFO on budgetary performance and spending within various programmes.
- Ensure performance agreements are completed and updated annually for all personnel.
- Guide training and skills development initiatives for budget management staff.
- Prepare and report on the Chief Directorate’s risk and performance plans to the CFO.
- Oversee budget preparation and control, ensuring alignment with Treasury guidelines.
- Conduct regular asset verifications and maintain accurate asset registers.
- Develop annual training plans for the Financial Management Division Budget Managers.
- Represent the CFO in budget management functions and during parliamentary inquiries.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate with a B.Com Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting or Management Accounting (NQF 7), recognized by SAQA.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a senior managerial role within a financial environment.
- Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme.
- Extensive knowledge of government policies and regulations, including PFMA, National Treasury’s Modified Cash Standard, and Treasury Regulations.
- Strong skills in financial management, strategic planning, and organization.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and service delivery in a public service context.
