What You’ll Do

• Analyze and critically evaluate information to identify risks associated with individual offenders.
• Make informed decisions regarding the safe release of offenders into the community and establish appropriate conditions for their parole.
• Oversee hearings and collaborate with other parole board members to assess evidence and reach sound decisions.
• Facilitate the preparation of reports, reasoned summaries, and decisions related to parole cases.
• Represent the Parole Board at hearings and public events, acting as an effective ambassador for the department.
• Manage administrative tasks related to hearings and public education on parole processes, including victim invitations to hearings.

What You’ll Need

• A recognized NQF level 7 qualification in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a management or decision-making role.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex information and make evidence-based decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and rapport-building with diverse individuals.
• Proven written communication skills for drafting reports and summarizing evidence.
• High standards of integrity and a commitment to fairness and equality in public service.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on professional self-development.
• Understanding of the criminal justice system and the importance of considering the victim’s perspective.
