What You’ll Do
- Oversee compliance with mandatory reporting as per the Correctional Services Act.
- Monitor and evaluate reports concerning inmates, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legislation.
- Develop and implement strategies and standard operating procedures for effective reporting and record-keeping.
- Write analytical reports and make recommendations to address systemic issues within the department.
- Train and educate departmental staff on mandatory reporting protocols and practices.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders to enhance communication and cooperation.
- Supervise senior case officers and clerks in the mandatory reporting unit.
- Report directly to the Deputy Director Complaints and Mandatory Reporting on unit activities.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12/Senior Certificate and a BProc or LLB Degree.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the legal environment, with 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong computer literacy and analytical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, research, and report writing abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of the Constitution, Correctional Services Act, and other relevant legal frameworks.
- Proficiency in English and at least one other official language.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
- Admission as an attorney or advocate is an added advantage.
