About the Role
The Department of Information and Communication Technology is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director: Information Communication based in Pretoria, Gauteng. What You’ll Do
- Provide support for Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity.
- Monitor and report on the functionality of network systems and applications.
- Manage network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and access points.
- Facilitate new user creation and termination processes on the departmental network.
- Compile monthly IT reports and manage ICT servers and applications.
- Conduct regular assessments of server environments and access controls.
- Install and update ICT applications, ensuring system security and functionality.
- Manage ICT calls logged by users, ensuring timely resolution within service level agreements.
- Participate in central ICT projects, contributing to the rollout of new initiatives.
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the IT unit and manage staff allocations.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate and a National Diploma (NQF level 6) / Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an ICT environment at junior management level, specifically with LAN and WAN.
- Knowledge of government systems, ICT policies, and the South African ICT landscape.
- Strong planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Advanced computer literacy and financial management skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
