About the Role
The Department of Public Service and Administration is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director: Firearm Management to be based at the Head Office in Polokwane, Limpopo. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with the Firearm Control Act 60 of 2000 and Regulation 12 and 79, which are essential for maintaining public safety and security. What You’ll Do
- Manage departmental firearms to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Develop and maintain firearm control policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular firearm audits and inspections.
- Maintain an up-to-date firearm register compatible with the SAPS firearm register.
- Organize and conduct quarterly shooting exercises.
- Oversee the management of financial, human, and physical resources in line with directives.
What You’ll Need
- Completed NQF 6 qualification in Policing, Law Enforcement, Security, Criminology, or a recognized equivalent.
- A minimum of three to five years’ experience in the Firearm Control field at a supervisory level.
- Valid Firearm Competency certificate for handguns, shotguns, or rifles.
- A valid driver’s license (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
- Strong knowledge of the Firearm Control Act and associated regulations.
- Proficiency in firearm records management and effective firearm control.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in financial management and computer literacy.
