What You’ll Do

  • Manage departmental firearms to ensure compliance with the Firearm Control Act and relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain firearm control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct firearm audits and inspections to ensure proper compliance and safety.
  • Keep the firearm register updated and compatible with the SAPS firearm register.
  • Facilitate quarterly shooting exercises to maintain operational readiness.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively in line with directives and legislation.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF 6 qualification in Policing, Law Enforcement, Security, Criminology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience in the Firearm Control field at a supervisory level.
  • A Firearm Competency certificate (handgun, shotgun, or rifle).
  • A valid driver’s license (exceptions apply for persons with disabilities).
  • Strong knowledge of the Firearm Control Act and related regulations.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and effective communication skills, including negotiation and conflict management.
