What You’ll Do
- Facilitate effective asset management within the department to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive asset and acquisition plans and strategies.
- Ensure the integrity of the asset register and assist with monthly reconciliations of accounting systems.
- Conduct physical verification of assets and maintain accurate records of asset movement and conditions.
- Investigate instances of unverified assets that are lost, stolen, or damaged, and report findings accordingly.
- Oversee the recording of asset disposals, write-offs, and losses, ensuring all actions are documented.
- Manage the moveable lease register and facilitate related financial commitments.
- Implement policies and procedures while ensuring adherence to risk and compliance management practices.
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on best practices in asset management and regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification in Accounting, Financial Management, or a related field at NQF 6, recognized by SAQA.
- Three years of supervisory experience in an asset management environment.
- Strong knowledge of Public Service Regulations, the Public Finance Management Act, and National Treasury Regulations.
- Familiarity with BAS, LOGIS, and the modified cash system (MCS).
- Proven skills in financial risk management, asset control management, and expenditure management.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong sense of integrity, accountability, and commitment to public service.
