What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and coordinate the operation and maintenance of pump stations, dams, pipelines, and reservoirs.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance to ensure continuous and efficient operations.
  • Lead preventative and corrective maintenance activities to uphold operational standards.
  • Supervise staff, managing attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and relevant legislation.
  • Compile and present operational and maintenance reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct inspections to identify and report infrastructure defects.
  • Participate in emergency response and flood control activities as required.
  • Maintain asset records and ensure proper housekeeping and security at facilities.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF level 4 qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the water infrastructure operations and maintenance environment.
  • A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
  • In-depth knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water infrastructure, including pump stations and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Water Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Proven experience in supervising staff and implementing maintenance programs.
  • Understanding of water distribution systems and emergency response procedures.
  • Computer literacy and ability to compile operational reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to work shifts, overtime, and standby duties as necessary.
