What You’ll Do

  • Allocate usher messengers to the judiciary for courtroom and judge’s chamber support.
  • Draft and manage the daily court roll for all civil and criminal matters.
  • Provide administrative support to judges and staff, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Supervise usher messengers, ensuring adherence to security and confidentiality protocols.
  • Compile monthly statistics to assess the productivity of usher messengers.
  • Conduct in-house training and facilitate task coordination for the office of the Judge President.
  • Coordinate the collection and delivery of post and court rolls.
  • Support the scheduling of court matters and negotiate courtroom allocations.
  • Ensure proper seating arrangements and signage for accused persons in criminal cases.
  • Oversee the setup of IT requirements for court cases, including MS Teams.
  • Assist in the rearrangement of courtrooms for special functions.
  • Manage the collection and distribution of court files and oversee staff performance.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 certificate is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as an usher messenger.
  • A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and court procedures.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and supervisory skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good decision-making and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage performance.
