What You’ll Do

• Act as attorney for the Asset Forfeiture Unit, representing the state in legal matters.
• Engage in civil litigation in high courts and magistrate courts, including appeals.
• Address constitutional issues and legal challenges in the Constitutional Court.
• Draft and settle various legal agreements, ensuring compliance and clarity.
• Provide legal opinions and advice to the Asset Forfeiture Unit and curators.
• Collect and manage all taxed bills of costs on behalf of the state.
• Conduct legal research as required to support case preparation.
• Maintain professionalism and accountability in all actions and communications.
• Travel as necessary and work extended hours to meet legal demands.

What You’ll Need

• An LLB degree or appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
• At least five years of post-qualification legal experience.
• Admitted as an attorney in terms of the Attorney Act 53 of 1979.
• Right of appearance as outlined in the NPA Act 32 of 1998.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and with accountability.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Excellent administrative skills, including literacy and numeracy for basic finance understanding.
