About the Role
Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital is currently looking for a dedicated Staff Nurse to join their Orthopaedic Unit team in Mobeni, a vibrant suburb in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is essential for providing quality patient care and ensuring the well-being of individuals recovering from orthopaedic procedures. As a Staff Nurse, you will work under the supervision of Professional Nurses, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare that prioritizes patient comfort, safety, and hygiene.
In this position, you will be at the forefront of patient care, assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges, while also observing and reporting any changes in patients’ conditions. What You’ll Do
- Provide basic nursing care in the Orthopaedic Unit under supervision.
- Assist Professional Nurses with patient care procedures.
- Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, and safety.
- Observe and report any changes in patient conditions.
- Support with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality patient care.
- Be prepared to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate.
- An Enrolled Nurse Certificate.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
- Experience Grade 1: No prior experience required.
- Experience Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration.
- Experience Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration.
- Strong knowledge of Public Service policies and regulations.
- Good communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a clinical setting.
