What You’ll Do

  • Provide legal opinions on state land matters to clients and stakeholders.
  • Verify information on the Land Administration Web (LAW) system concerning legal issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to formulate informed opinions on state land matters.
  • Consult with various stakeholders regarding legal matters related to state land.
  • Monitor and review standard legal agreements associated with state land.
  • Draft and review contracts, including lease agreements and development agreements related to state land.
  • Ensure compliance of lease contracts with established policies and legislation.
  • Manage litigation processes concerning state land and liaise with legal counsel.
  • Prepare reports on the progress and outcomes of litigation matters referred.
  • Provide inputs on policy development and respond to audit findings related to legal compliance.
  • Offer training and capacity-building sessions to internal clients on legal matters.
  • Investigate complaints and make recommendations as necessary.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB/BProc).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in litigation and contract drafting.
  • Admission as an Attorney or proven experience as a practicing Advocate.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislation related to state land and relevant legal prescripts.
  • Strong understanding of Constitutional Law, property management, and policy analysis.
  • Proficient in legal research procedures and service level agreements.
  • Excellent computer literacy and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
