About the Role

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is seeking a dedicated Senior Public Prosecutor to join its team in Gqeberha. This critical role is based within the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) division, where you will play a vital part in shaping community safety and justice. By developing local crime prevention initiatives and strategies aligned with the Community Prosecution Initiative (CPI), you will be at the forefront of addressing crime dynamics in the region, ensuring that the community feels secure and supported.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement local crime prevention initiatives in line with the Community Prosecution Initiative
  • Analyse local crime trends and community insecurities to inform strategies
  • Organise and participate in community prosecution events and meetings
  • Build strategic partnerships for local crime prevention initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to expand the CPI footprint
  • Provide education about legal rights and responsibilities to targeted community groups
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented initiatives
  • Perform prosecutorial duties, including managing dockets and case management

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion
  • At least eight years of post-qualification litigation experience
  • Competency in independent and accountable decision-making
  • Knowledge of public service legislation, including the Constitution and Criminal Procedure Act
  • Strong general management and strategic stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven project management and administrative skills
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel
