What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and manage the administration of appeals related to mining and other environmental matters.
- Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding appeals, providing guidance and support.
- Organize and facilitate appeals committee meetings to discuss and review complex appeals.
- Ensure compliance with internal filing policies and guidelines for finalized appeals.
- Draft ministerial submissions and appeal decisions regarding environmental authorizations.
- Capture all grounds of appeal and responses in a logical sequence for decision-making.
- Provide general legal support and guidance to the department.
- Draft instructions for legal counsel to request opinions and support litigation on appeals.
What You’ll Need
- LLB Degree or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant field.
- Extensive understanding of law, public service, and departmental procedures.
- Knowledge of strategic coordination, policy development, risk management, and audit procedures.
- Strong skills in project management, research methodologies, and presentation.
- Excellent reporting, professional writing, and policy formulation abilities.
- Proven ability to gather, analyze information, and adhere to timelines.
- Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage difficult interactions.
- A valid driver’s license.
