What You’ll Do
- Provide legal advisory support services to the department and the Ministry.
- Manage all litigious matters involving the department.
- Draft, vet, and amend contracts while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Explore and implement efficiency measures in legal processes.
- Offer general legal opinions to various line functions.
- Liaise with the office of the state attorney, facilitating litigation documentation.
- Consult with line functions to gather instructions for legal matters.
- Oversee the management of litigation and debt files.
- Handle PAIA and PAJA requests from line functions.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of a four-year degree (LLB) and at least 8 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.
- Experience as an in-house legal advisor or legal/contract administrator for 8 years.
- Willingness to travel on an ad hoc basis and adapt to professional work schedules.
- A valid driver’s licence and admission as an attorney or advocate of the high court are required.
- Specialized knowledge of contract law, litigation administration, and legal research.
- Proven skills in legal drafting, communication, problem-solving, and relationship management.
