What You’ll Do
- Provide specialized nursing care to paediatric patients, ensuring adherence to professional standards and legal guidelines.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic health care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and care planning for all patients.
- Participate in clinical practice development and educational initiatives.
- Support and participate in research activities to improve nursing practices.
- Efficiently manage human and financial resources within the nursing division.
- Provide guidance and support to the Nursing Supervisor and the overall nursing department.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Child Nursing Science, accredited with the SANC, or a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- For Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- For Grade 2: At least 14 years of relevant nursing experience, with a minimum of 10 years after obtaining the post-basic qualification in Child Nursing.
- Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, and weekends.
- Strong understanding of nursing legislation, ethical practices, and quality of care standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.
Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC, in Child Nursing Science.
OR a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
A postgraduate diploma (R635) accredited in Child Nursing.
Experience: Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable 206 experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or postgraduate diploma in the specific specialty.
Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, night duty and weekend cover for nursing.
Deputising for the Operational Manager: Nursing.
Competencies (knowledge/skills): Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impacts on service delivery.
Ensure that clinical nursing practice rendered by the nursing team and promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards.
Effective interpersonal, leadership, organisational, decision making and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrate a good understanding of People Management (Human Resources) and financial policies and practices.
Computer literacy (i.
e.
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Knowledge of FBU functions and ability to work collaboratively within FBUs.
Job Duties
