What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain the library catalogue in accordance with international library standards.
  • Download and manage bibliographic records from platforms such as Smartport, UKM, and OCLC.
  • Ensure the efficient distribution and retrieval of catalogued materials.
  • Administer the classification of the library collection, focusing on enhancing user access.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of collections, including previous editions and non-book materials.
  • Supervise staff, allocate duties, and perform quality control on their work.
  • Manage asset verification, stocktaking, and the library management system.
  • Provide guidance on asset allocation and control, and oversee the training and development of library staff.

What You’ll Need

  • A National Diploma in Library and Information Science, Record Management, or a relevant qualification at NQF level 6 with 360 credits, recognised by SAQA.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a library environment.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Knowledge of legal library environments and comparative research in South African law.
  • Proficiency in Library OPAC systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
