About the Role

The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist Grade 1 to 2 to join their team at the Metro TB Hospital Complex, located in Cape Town. This vital role focuses on the assessment and treatment of patients referred for physiotherapy, playing a critical part in enhancing the quality of life for individuals within the community. As a Physiotherapist, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the Physiotherapy department, support your supervisor, and engage in multidisciplinary team projects that promote education and awareness around tuberculosis (TB) and physiotherapy practices.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct assessments and create treatment plans for patients referred for physiotherapy.
• Manage and complete patient-related administration effectively.
• Assist in the daily operations of the Physiotherapy department.
• Support multidisciplinary team projects and lead educational awareness programmes.
• Provide clinical guidance to physiotherapy students and supervise junior staff.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in physiotherapy practices and TB awareness.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist.
• Current registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist.
• For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration for RSA qualified employees; 1 year for foreign qualified employees.
• For Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience post-registration for RSA qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Knowledge of relevant health legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Understanding of evidence-based practices, particularly in physiotherapy, neuro-rehabilitation, and chest physiotherapy.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
