What You’ll Do

  • Implement and monitor the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Develop and enforce OHS policies to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Conduct health and safety awareness sessions for employees.
  • Investigate and report on workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Address health and safety concerns raised by employees promptly.
  • Arrange medical surveillance for eligible employees.
  • Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments.
  • Measure exposure levels to identified hazards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Organize OHS Committee meetings and facilitate discussions.
  • Implement control measures to minimize risks.
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual OHS reports.
  • Promote workplace safety initiatives and best practices.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on OHS matters.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation exercises and drills.
  • Supervise and support subordinate staff in safety protocols.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate plus a relevant National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or Occupational Hygiene.
  • Registration with the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) or Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in an Occupational Health and Safety environment.
  • Knowledge of Public Service Regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and related legislation.
  • Strong skills in incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel as needed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments.
