About the Role
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking passionate individuals to fill two Librarian positions based in Gqeberha and Humansdorp within the Nelson Mandela and Sarah Baartman Districts. What You’ll Do
- Conduct awareness campaigns to promote library usage among all community members.
- Organize and implement reading programs to encourage literacy and engagement.
- Manage stock control and oversee library material distribution.
- Attend to user needs, providing assistance and guidance to library patrons.
- Compile monthly user statistics and reports to assess library performance.
- Participate in drafting the library’s business plan and strategic goals.
- Supervise staff and manage library assets and resources effectively.
- Implement annual recovery of outstanding library fees.
- Establish and maintain mini-library services to reach underserved areas.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma or B.Bibl. Degree/ B Tech (NQF Level 6) in Library and Information Science or Bachelor of Information Sciences.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in a Library and Information Service field.
- Knowledge of public service legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Good computer skills and proficiency in organizing, communication, and report writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Understanding of at least four Eastern Cape official languages is an added advantage.
- A valid driving license is required.
